For someone who just can not stand things near my neck (I'm a V-neck kind of girl) I think the neck is great. It's sturdy/thick enough that it doesn't stretch out throughout the day. I "fiddled" with it a few times making sure it wasn't too close to my neck and it did very well. You can easily fold the neck down, or just let it lay as it falls, and it's great either way. The fabric is extremely soft and perfectly warm. I did take out the tie from the waist. I knew I wouldn't be using it. I wore it to work (business casual) with a black pair of jeans, and the black lace-up hiker boots (all 3 things from Torrid) and I think it looked great.
