Rated 5 out of 5 by from YES THERE ARE POCKETS! Absolutely in LOVE with this jacket! I'm usually a 1 in tops, and most of the time a 2 in the blazers, but based on reviews learned that jackets run kind of big and went with a 1. It fits perfectly and is hands-down the most flattering jacket I've ever owned! As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a stretchy panel on the sleeves which I'm not crazy about, but you can't see it unless your arms are raised. And yes, there are pockets! I honestly didn't believe it- those things were sewn VERY securely shut from end to end, I couldn't feel any extra material underneath and was afraid of ruining the jacket by attempting to cut them. I finally did because lack of pockets was making me not like this amazing coat, and I'm so glad I did. There are definitely pockets under there, so cut away! Just be careful and use a thread snipper vs. scissors because it's very easy to cut the lining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy I bought this coat around Christmas for my new job and I love it. I love the fit. Once you unstitch the pockets they aren't very deep . I'm extremely pleased with my purchase, discount and all. Yes , it keeps you warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this coat! I really love everything about this coat! It is flattering in the waist line and flares out at the bottom which is so cute and feminine. I adore it! This coat does indeed have pockets despite what some of the other reviews say. They are sown shut and need to be opened by cutting the stitch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely perfect! This is honestly the most beautiful coat I've put on. It fits perfectly, I love it so much, so flattering and well made, warm and fitted. I have pretty big hips and I wasn't sure if I should size up or down to make sure this wasn't too tight, but trust me that's not an issue here at all. I'd say go by your chest/waist measurement instead of the hips, it hangs so beautifully. Like others mentioned, it does indeed have pockets. A lot of clothes I order online come with the pockets stitched closed these days - just carefully snip it and unravel the thread keeping the pockets closed. Then Voila! Pockets! :) Highly recommend this coat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute and cozy The reviews about the "fake pockets" below are all from the same person. Not sure why Torrid has not addressed it. I love this coat! I didn't think it would be warm in the arms given the silky material but it is so cozy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CUT OPEN THE POCKET SLITS!!! A lot of companies stitch the pockets closed merely for cosmetic purposes. Feel the inside of the jacket near the "pocket" area for extra material. If there is some, you need to carefully cut the thread under the pocket flap holding the pockets closed. This has been a common thing with Torrid coats.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cute pockets I ordered this coat thinking it looked like a cute winter option. Cute it is! The cut is flattering and I like the cinched back. However, maybe it’s just uniquely my coat, but there were NO POCKETS. I took one reviewers advice and tried with cuticle scissors to cut the wanna-be pockets open. I wound up cutting right into the liner. seems like there are two versions of this coat out there. I’m very bummed that mine is pocket-less. Thx Torrid...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Yes there are pockets I wore this for the first time today. It's very cozy and comfortable. Time will tell if it holds up against New York winters. I am concerned about the arm panel being so thin, but the difference the panel makes on the fit was immediately apparent when I first put it on. I hate having to cut open pockets but it happens all the time and I'm just grateful when women's clothes have pockets at all. I did hesitate to cut the pockets on this coat because they were sewn so tightly but I used cuticle scissors to make a first snip and then was easily able to rip them open. Overall I'm pleased with my purchase. I was very comfortable commuting in this coat and it looks professional.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely coat- unsure about the sleeves I bought this coat to replace the Outlander coat (I will be returning that one- turns out single breasted just isn't a good look on me, otherwise it had DOUBLE pockets!). This coat (the fit and flare double breasted grey coat) fits very well, and gives me a great silhouette from all angles. Adjusting to the flared part of the coat is a bit different for me, but it does look great. I rated it 4 out of 5 stars for the following reason: The only part I'm a little unsure about is the sleeves. Torrid has an innovative approach to a common problem (and more common among larger women) where the sleeves and shoulders of coats are highly constrictive. To solve this, ALL of their coats this year have a stretch panel of fabric about 2-3 inches wide running down the inside of all of their sleeves. This portion of the sleeve allows for extra stretch for people wearing sweaters that may add a bit of bulk, as well as helping increase range of motion for such activities as reaching your steering wheel (seriously, do other coat manufacturers think we don't drive?) However, the downside is that this is a single layer of that fabric, with no additional lining or other wool, so its the coldest part of the coat. Enter someone like me with circulation issues in my extremities that prevent me from getting warm again once I get cold (genetic condition, unfortunately). I only did a brief test last night wearing short sleeves under the coat, and aim to do another test tonight with a cardigan on underneath the coat to test how this will feel to me. Last night it was definitely too cold for me, but I don't often wear only short sleeves in the winter. (fyi- the weather last night was 48 degrees, and it should be about the same tonight) Tonight I'll be able to test again, hopefully....and hopefully it will be better and I'll be able to justify keeping this beautiful coat! (seriously, the fit is VERY flattering). Oh, and as many people have stated, this coat definitely has pockets- they are stitched closed to keep them from getting wonky during shipping from the manufacturer, just like pockets on many trousers are, and other coats, and the tacking on tails of some coats or skirts. Just snip and pull out the thread binding the pockets closed- I actually do mine by hand, as the thread is meant to come out and doesn't NEED cutting to do so.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice warm coat! First of all, a lot of coat pockets are sewn shut so they lay flat and keep their shape until it makes its way to you. All you need to do is take a seam ripper or a small pair of scissors and open up the pocket seams. A tip for everyone who gave this coat bad reviews for the 'lack' of pockets. Otherwise a really nice coat!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't see a way to get functioning pockets I bought this on Black Friday. From the description it said there are pockets. I read the reviews that the pockets are sewn together and you have to cut them. I don't see any way to do that with the coat I received. I pulled and pulled and it will not come apart.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Buttons I bought this coat one week ago and the buttons are falling off. I like the length, the weight and the pockets. The buttons are not sewn on well

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fake pockets! The pockets are fake! I was super disappointed to see that. But the coat is warm and it looks great on! Very flattering.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice coat sleeves are SUPER LONG and RUNS BIG Hi I got this coat last night and it is really cute. I got it for a trip to Paris because I wanted a cute little chic pea coat. This coat is really disproportionate. I'm 5'8 and 260. I should be a perfect size 18/20 and it's BIG. I could probably fit in a 14/16. The sleeves are really long and I have long arms because I am tall so the arm length should be perfect. I am torn between bringing the coat to the Taylor's to fix the arms because it is a cute coat and stylish or returning it. It also is heavy and since it is running a little bit on the larger side you can wear a heavy sweater underneath it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fake pockets! The description clearly says pockets. Unfortunately they are fake. I plan to return this item.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fake Pockets Returning: in the description it says Side Pockets. The Jacket I received has fake pockets as in it has slits that look like like pockets but they are sealed shut. Otherwise looks like a good coat

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No freaking pockets!! Why would you make a coat without pockets?! So stupid.
