Torrid is a fashion brand created for women who wear clothes in sizes 10 to 30. We design plus size fashion around curves from the beginning, bringing together current style, everyday comfort and fit expertise across an assortment made for work, weekends, movement, travel and special occasions. Our goal is simple: help every customer find pieces that reflect her style and feel right on her body.
All About Torrid
Torrid History
We opened our first store in 2001 at Brea Mall in Brea, California, with a focus on giving plus size women more fashionable choices. Since then, Torrid has grown into a staple North American fashion retailer with hundreds of stores, an excellent online experience and mobile app, while still remaining centered on the needs and feedback of our customer community.
Proprietary Fit & Sizing
Fit is not treated as a final adjustment. It shapes our process from the first design through the finished product:
- Our designers, artists and product engineers create styles specifically for curvy bodies rather than simply grading up a smaller-size pattern.
- We fit every product on real fit models and members of our staff instead of relying only on mannequins.
- Measurements and results are cataloged in a continually refined database of fit specifications.
- Proprietary fabrics are engineered to support the intended fit, and new fabrics, silhouettes and product lines may be tested with staff and customers before launch.
