The fabric is warm and comfortable to wear, with the waistband sitting at my natural waist without slippage or digging in. The thick ruched velvet highlights my curves without clinging, and the fabric gives it a slightly dressier effect than if it was matte black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Considered buying two I bought this skirt more or less to give myself something a little bit dressy when I am typically the king of comfort over style; I figured it would get use once a quarter or so when I wanted to be extra dressy. I am quite happy to be proven wrong! This skirt is the ultimate in pencil skirts to me. The fabric is thick so the silhouette doesn’t look overly clingy against my hip shelf, but the ruched velvet highlights my hips and rear without looking too sexy to wear to work. It even manages to highlight my stomach appealingly without overwhelming the rest of my frame, which is a tough needle to thread! Additionally, the fabric is warm, which means I can wear it during these rainy months when even my work pants won’t cut it. And despite it all, it’s VERY comfy; the waistband sits at my high waistline without slipping or digging in. This skirt has seen daylight at least once a week since I got it in January, and I will likely wear it until it falls apart, so I am seriously considering buying a second one.
