Really good event dress
I bought this dress for graduation. I am 5'7", weigh 225lbs, and bought a size 16. The fit underneath I saw some issues in previous reviews, but I didn't have an issue with the way it fit at all. I think it helped the dress lay normal and keep its shape. It's a good weight and very comfortable.

Great fit
I like the spandex material underneath. I wear I were a 0 or 1 depending on the style. I ordered a 16. Fit perfectly.

It has pockets!!!!
I bought this a month ago for a friends wedding. I love this dress. It has a liner inside to keep everything tight and smooth. Also it is stretchy and comfortable. I felt so comfy at an outdoor wedding. Plus it has pockets which is fantastic. This is an awesome little black dress to have for any occasion.

Feels good
Love the snug body shaper under the dress. It fits really well and love the pockets. It’s maybe a little on the smaller fit size by just a bit. I’m a 24/26 depending on fit and I had to order the 26.

This is a basic that your
Ok so first this dress is heavy. It was difficult to put on. All that was worth the results I wore it with a fancy gala last weekend with a sequenced jacket, a funeral the week before with a subtle blazer. I have also worn this to date night with my husband. So it is very versatile. It makes me feel confident that I’m covered, all curvy in a good way hides the bad curves. While also comfortable that I am not pulling at myself to make sure the dress is where it should be, for professional wear I will need a tank top as it does show some cleavage. A staple I plan on having for years

Great shape
It made me look great I was very impressed with the dress. It did have a few strings hanging off that made me worried but it was fine.

Pretty. Needs Petites
This is a beautiful and comfortable dress. I wish Torrid had an image showing the "shape wear". It is basically a slip style on the bottom 1/3 of the dress. I prefer the slip style over the short style because it is easier to use the restroom or wear pantyhose. The fabric is comfy, stretchy Ponte knit. It is a thicker, heavier dress...wouldn't want to wear this to an outdoor summer event. I will be wearing this for a winter event and will need to have it altered because I am on the shorter side. Really wish Torrid would realize that not all plus woman are 5"7+.

Cute but Too Short
A well made dress- however it was much shorter than it appeared in the pictures. I would recommend only for petite women!

Shapewear not for me
I was so excited to get this dress in because it’s so versatile and classic. However, I thought I maybe got a defective garment when the lining shape didn’t match the flouncy skirt. It’s not really shapewear; it’s a pencil skirt slip sewn into a pleated circle skirt, which just makes it awkward. There’s no seaming or contouring going on, and since it’s under the fullest part of the dress, it just doesn’t make a lot of sense. It’s a shame because it really does fit nicely everywhere else, and i had no trouble closing the zipper on my own. I purchased the black and the floral versions, and I’m sad to say that they’re both going back.

Great idea, but...
This dress is overall really pretty. The cut and style are versatile; it would be perfect for a wedding or date and it's not too sexy for a funeral. You could dress it up in many ways. I LOVE the idea of shapewear in a dress, but I don't understanding having shapewear in the bottom flouncy part. That part doesn't need to get sucked in! I will end up returning this because it was a little big around the bust and the arm holes showed my bra. It was also tricky to zip up because of the added thickness of the shapewear. If you are on the fence, I would try it and see if it works for you because it is a beautiful dress!

Not Disability Friendly
I've bought many dresses from Torrid previously, and any time there's a nice dress with pockets, I go for it. However - the detail about this dress including "shapewear" is super not clear about what KIND of shapewear and how the shapewear functions inside the dress. I figured, based on the photos and description, that the shapewear was a function of the interior lining and structure of the bodice - that your bust and back are shaped, but then the dress flares out in an A-line, so that hides anything underneath and looks flattering on most folks. No need for lower-half shapewear, right? Apparently very, very wrong.
This dress includes a bottom tube of mesh material that you have to step into and then struggle with to pull up over your thighs and hips to even get the bodice up top where you can put your arms through. The shapewear also pulls the zipper out wide, so there is more resistance to zipping it, which if you have any kind of shoulder/arm issues, makes zipping this dress up by yourself really difficult. The fact that I cannot pull this dress pre-zipped on over my head is a HUGE disappointment. I have several physical limitations involving my shoulders as well as my pelvis, so having to struggle to step into this dress and then do what feels like fighting with the mesh tube to get it over my pelvis (which causes discomfort and pain) is NOT what I want to spend money on. Even if you do manage to get it pulled up and the dress zipped, the mesh tube comes down too far on my thighs for my liking, and is really restrictive on my legs. What is the point of an A-line silhouette if you are going to shove yourself into a tight pencil skirt underneath? If the bottom tube did not exist, this dress would be so comfortable and flattering. As is, I really don't understand how any Torrid shoppers who have physical limitations/disabilities/chronic pain can wear this garment. Boo Torrid. Either make your listing clear, with PHOTOS of the tube, so I can know not to buy it, or only put this kind of shapewear on dresses that are also pencil-shaped, not A-line.

Weird Shapewear
This dress has mess/stretch tube of “shape wear” attached to the waist of the dress. I see what they are going for but would like to see the “shape wear” in the form of shorts like Halara dresses. You can very easily cut out the shape wear. The dress fit fine otherwise. I plan on returning this item.

My most hated purchase.
Horrible design! This dress doesn't function. It comes with a tag that says you can't return it once removed. It got so I took the tag off and then the inside rode up my thighs to my waist all day. I was so embarrassed and worried the outside was going to ride up too. Just a miserable experience. They should be offering exchanges.

Couldn’t even wear it!
Beware! If you’re heavier at all on the bottom, this dress just won’t go on. The shape west is SO tight I couldn’t even get into the dress properly. The shape wear rose up to it waist, along with the dress since it’s all sewn together, zipper and all. - or I would have just cut out the shape wear, unfortunately wasn’t an option. For such an expensive item, what a total fail and waste or money. Size 16, approx 220 lbs.
