Thank you whom ever returned a size 16. I bought this in the red so I knew what size I needed … had it sitting in my wishlist since the size I needed was originally sold out. Thank goodness I noticed there was one available.
This is a shape ,design , & quality that is more formal and timeless. You have to do the torrid wiggle ( like the swimsuits) not easy to get on but makes you look amazing once on. WORTH IT! This is my 3rd contouring dress purchase you really have to get the exact size to have them work for you. It’s NOT light weight, it does have a tube liner that goes all the way down over your thighs. I’m 5’2, 225,pear, apron, 40D/42c, 1 tops.. if sleeves sometimes 2.. a 18 jegging, 2 pixie & 2 leggings.. very bottom heavy. The 16 fits me like a glove. If I had larger than a double d bra I would likely have needed the next size up.
I bought several super soft dresses last year. God they are comfortable. But at end of summer a family member commented that I was doing myself a disservice in them… the comments was made … they had a tendency to flare out under my boobs & I easily looked a couple sizes larger. I threw one on and turned sideways in mirror and realized they were correct. Not that it matters what size I am… and the family member wasn’t trying to be mean… I’m still going to reach for super soft on really hot informal days. This design is so very different from anything else I’ve ever seen. It is a HEAVY dress probably not going to wear to a 90 degree picnic but perfect to pack (doesn’t wrinkle) and wear to a multitude of events and look really good. It sucks in everything directly under my bust giving the top layer a smooth outline to cover. If you don’t do shape wear.. definitely skip. But if you have semi formal events or date nights this will be a staple. It definitely holds everything in … Same family member said how amazing I look in this dress. It gives me a defined waist that doesn’t jet out under bust. The shape wear since it does run down over thighs helps keep the dress from flaring out. You definitely think about your posture when wearing. Remember this is more like a one piece torrid swimsuit to wear… you may have to do a dance to get on but very worthwhile IMHO. You can cut the liner mostly out if you like but the liner is great if you want a polished look. Very comfortable on. Tailoring is beautiful. Thank you torrid.
Tempted to put a size up and down in my wishlist to see if anyone returns.. because so timeless..

Really good event dress
I bought this dress for graduation. I am 5'7", weigh 225lbs, and bought a size 16. The fit underneath I saw some issues in previous reviews, but I didn't have an issue with the way it fit at all. I think it helped the dress lay normal and keep its shape. It's a good weight and very comfortable.

It has pockets!!!!
I bought this a month ago for a friends wedding. I love this dress. It has a liner inside to keep everything tight and smooth. Also it is stretchy and comfortable. I felt so comfy at an outdoor wedding. Plus it has pockets which is fantastic. This is an awesome little black dress to have for any occasion.

Love the snug body shaper under the dress. It fits really well and love the pockets. It’s maybe a little on the smaller fit size by just a bit. I’m a 24/26 depending on fit and I had to order the 26.

Ok so first this dress is heavy. It was difficult to put on. All that was worth the results I wore it with a fancy gala last weekend with a sequenced jacket, a funeral the week before with a subtle blazer. I have also worn this to date night with my husband. So it is very versatile. It makes me feel confident that I’m covered, all curvy in a good way hides the bad curves. While also comfortable that I am not pulling at myself to make sure the dress is where it should be, for professional wear I will need a tank top as it does show some cleavage. A staple I plan on having for years
