My friend was wearing them with a Torrid dress and someone working at the grocery thanked her for bringing class to the store. I've received compliments and even a few guys have commented they are cool at work. I agree the calf size is not as clear as with other Torrid boots. I took some photos with measuring tape to help everyone. When laced snug, the top is around 18 inches. You can loosen the buckles and laces in a way that will make the top around approximately 22 inches. You need to fiddle with them to get them wider and opening them really far can make the tongue a bit wobbly. You may be able to open it up a little bit more than 22, but that's the limit I feel best saying is the expansion. Take into consideration what pants you might be wearing with them, as leggings might make it easier to fit a larger calf into them.

We are scotch and Irish and I collect outlander pieces, have jewelry, sleep gown and of course that awesome dress.

Have always wanted tall lace up boots and am a huge fan of Outlander, but I was afraid of fit because I don't have wide feet or calves. But it's so adjustable with the laces and straps at the top and a warm pair of socks I'll be good to go. They look very well made.
