I sized down because of the smocked bust, so apple shaped or other buyers who's bottom half is larger than their top half, keep in mind the seams for the ruffles do not offer stretch and depending on size you may not get the flowy effect you were hoping for. The dress's fabric is fairly thin. I am 5'10" so the dress hits me midcalf, which I don't mind- I can show off my boots. I love the plaid- you can style punk with boots and leopard print, or holidays with more tame layers and a cute flat.

In my photo, I circled the top seam that I'm talking about. I AM HIPPY and BELLY, and if only that seam wasn't there it would've been my favorite dress, ever!
