Can you tell me a little bit about what you do at Torrid? I've been with Torrid as a sales associate for seven years. I work normally in the fitting room and that is my happy place. I get to connect with our customers one-on-one. That is where I feel the most efficient, but also my best self. What's your favorite part about working at Torrid? Definitely the fitting room interactions. I've had so many opportunities to meet so many different women. And hearing their stories and what they're coming in for is an amazing opportunity. It gives me butterflies just thinking about it. How has your store team been supporting you through #TeamTorrid? The support that I'm receiving from my team has just been phenomenal. My manager, Adriana, literally everyday was like, “Did you submit your application?” … Just pressing me on it. I appreciated that because I was so nervous to do it because you get in your head about it … And yes, “Procrastination” is my middle name. I waited till the last day, but we got it done. How did you find out about Torrid? I was walking down a little mall hallway and I saw a sign saying that Torrid was coming. So I had immediately looked it up and was scrolling through and I was like, “Oh my God. Oh my God. The clothing here is amazing. It's beautiful. And it's for me.” Being able to see a store that accommodates my size, my shape, my little bit of weirdness … Being able to see a store that was able to provide all of that? Game-changing. What does being part of #TeamTorrid mean to you? What it means to me to be #TeamTorrid is being fearlessly unapologetic, because we're in an industry where you're always being criticized for what you're wearing, and I refuse to allow anyone to dictate or determine how I see myself as beautiful. I was trying not to vomit … I don't think it’ll feel real until I get on the plane back home. But that moment took my breath away. Seeing you guys cheering us on like we were warriors walking onto a battlefield to conquer clothing … I'm proud of me. I'm here. And this moment has been beautiful. Torrid is beautiful. And I couldn't be happier to be working with this company and a part of this family. What are you going to take home with you from the experience? That I'm on the right track. “I am unstoppable” that's just been running through my head this whole time and seeing that I'm not alone in this journey and that literally I'm doing this for a reason. I am here for a reason. Tell us something surprising about yourself? I’m a hardcore anime fan. What advice would you give to someone who's learning to love their body?It would be to not be so hard on yourself. The world will do that for you, so your best chance of getting through that is to just love yourself first. No matter what, in every moment you wake up, tell yourself you're beautiful that you deserve to be loved, that you are an amazing person and that no matter what the world throws at you, you're unstoppable.
