Wide or extra wide width describes the fit around the foot. Wide Calf and Extra Wide Calf describe the circumference of the tall boot shaft around the lower leg.

Not every wide-calf boot also features a wide foot design. At Torrid, the footwear itself is identified as extra wide width, while select tall styles also offer separate Wide Calf and Extra Wide Calf options.

Measure the fullest part of your calf while standing and compare the result with the calf circumference listed for the individual boot style. Choose the option that provides enough room for your leg and any clothing you plan to tuck inside.

Measure around the fullest part of the calf while standing. Keep the tape level and measure both legs because one calf may be larger than the other.

Consider the thickness of any jeans, leggings or socks you plan to wear inside the boot. The product fit should provide enough room without requiring the zipper or upper to stretch excessively.

Shaft height is the distance from the top of the heel or sole area to the top edge of the boot. It helps indicate where the boot will sit on your leg.

The terms are often used interchangeably. Both generally describe boots that end around or slightly above the ankle, although exact shaft heights vary.

The best option depends on your foot shape. Extra wide boots with round or square toes, flexible uppers, stretch panels, laces or adjustable details may provide a more adaptable fit.

Yes, provided the widest part of the boot aligns with the widest part of your foot and your toes are not compressed. Pointed-toe shapes vary, so evaluate the specific style.

Calf circumference and shoe length are separate measurements. Do not size up only to gain calf room when a separate Wide Calf or Extra Wide Calf option is available.

Not automatically. Start with your measured foot length and use the product details to evaluate width. Sizing down may make the boot too short even when it feels roomy around part of the foot.

The shaft should feel secure without pinching, digging in or requiring excessive force to zip. It should also avoid excessive gapping or sliding down during wear.

Yes. Measure your calf while wearing jeans if you plan to tuck them into the boots, then compare that measurement with the product-specific shaft circumference.

Ankle boots, knee-high boots, Western boots, heeled booties and over-the-knee boots can all work with dresses. Choose the shaft height and heel based on the dress length and occasion.

Skinny jeans can be tucked into knee-high, combat, Western and over-the-knee boots. They can also be worn with ankle booties when the hem falls cleanly near the shaft.

Straight-leg jeans can fall over ankle boots or be cropped or cuffed above the shaft. The best pairing depends on the jean opening and boot height.

Many ankle boots and Western boots can be worn across seasons. Heavy, lined or tall boots may be more suitable for cooler weather, while lighter booties can work in spring and transitional seasons.

Specific Torrid boot styles are water proof, but not all boots. Check the individual product description for water-resistant, waterproof or weather-specific claims.

Follow the care instructions for the specific material. Faux leather, faux suede, fabric and embellished boots may require different products and cleaning methods.
